2010 will be our first full growing season, so we need your help. Shaftesbury Home Grown relies on the positive enthusiasm of it members and volunteer workforce to bring in the harvest and put food on the table. Before then we have much to do – from digging and planting to managing the website and membership, from weeding and hoeing to planning the crops and maintaining our field. There are some great benefits in being a member of Shaftesbury Home Grown for you, your family and Shaftesbury; so if you’re interested in your food, how its produced and where it comes from, please sign up.
We realise that some people would like to support the project but are unable to get practically involved, so we have come up with two types of membership for this first year. Membership is per household and lasts for one year. Members are entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting (one vote per household)
Working members will receive 10% discount on purchase of vegetables and will commit to 24 half day sessions working at the field evenly spread throughout the year. - Cost: Free
Supporting members will receive 10% discount on purchases and there is no commitment to volunteering although you will be very welcome at any working parties. Cost: Minimum £15 donation per annum
Working parties are usually held on alternate weekends and during the growing season there may be mid-week sessions also. All family members are very welcome to get involved but children must be accompanied and supervised at all times.
When produce is ready for sale, working members will be notified first of availability, then non-working members and any surplus will then be sold to the public.
